ECFE / School Readiness

WELCOME to Rock Ridge Early Childhood Programs.  We offer a variety of classes at Parkview Elementary (Virginia) and at Laurentian Elementary (Eveleth) that lay a healthy foundation for lifelong learning for children while supporting parents and caregivers.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program that offers classes, events, playtimes, and other opportunities designed to give families ideas and skills to support their child’s growth and development from birth to kindergarten.

Rock Ridge School Readiness is a welcoming place for your child’s first preschool experience. School Readiness classes are offered at two of our elementary campuses – Laurentian and Parkview. We focus on building social emotional skills, language & literacy, health & nutrition, physical & development for all children. We will provide your child with the opportunity to get comfortable in a group setting, learn about simple class routines, meet new friends and explore new and exciting activities in a safe and nurturing environment. The classroom will offer a variety of learning activities/centers such as science, art, dramatic play, music, sensory exploration, and small/large motor experiences.

• School Readiness 3’s (Terrific 3’s) at Laurentian Elementary is a fun and lighthearted introduction to the school setting.  There will be hands-on learning activities that are developmentally appropriate for three-year-old children.  All learning is play based and presented in an engaging way.  This class will help children build self-confidence and develop social skills independently of parents. Children who are 3-years old by September 1st of the current school year are eligible to participate in this program. Classes meet twice per week for four hours per day with a licensed educator and trained support staff.

• School Readiness 4-Year Olds Program at Parkview Elementary: Children will participate in hands-on-learning that is educational and fun in a stimulating classroom that encourages learning through discovery and play. Children who are 4-years old by September 1st of the current school year are eligible to participate in this program. Classes meet Monday-Friday, full days for the school year with a licensed educator and trained support staff.
